How to convert AVIF to JPG
- Add your AVIF photos. Drop them on the box above, or pick them from your device. You can add up to 300 files in one batch, each up to 50 MB.
- Check that the Format is set to JPG and set the Quality if you want. WipePic has already chosen JPG for you on this page.
- Download the JPG files. One file is saved as it is, and several files are saved as a ZIP.
Why convert AVIF to JPG?
You have an AVIF image and a program or website that does not accept it. This page converts it to a JPG that works nearly everywhere.
What to know about this conversion
- WipePic reads AVIF with the decoder of your browser. If your browser cannot open AVIF, the file cannot be converted and the row shows an error.
- JPG does not store transparency, so transparent areas turn white. An AVIF image sequence (animation) is not converted.
- The Quality slider goes from low to high and starts at 85. A higher value keeps more detail and makes a larger file.
- The converted photo is turned upright using its Orientation tag, and the new file has the extension .jpg.
- When the colors of a photo cannot be kept in the new file, WipePic converts them to sRGB and shows a note on the file.
Your photos stay on your device
The conversion runs in your browser. WipePic does not upload your photos, does not need an account and has no usage quota. Each converted file is also cleaned of its hidden metadata, so you can share it right away.
Questions
Why can some programs not open AVIF?
AVIF is a new format. Many editors, printers and upload forms do not read it yet. A JPG opens in all of them.
Why does my AVIF fail to convert?
WipePic uses the AVIF decoder that your browser provides. If your browser is too old to open AVIF, the conversion fails. Try a current version of your browser or another browser.
Will the JPG be bigger than the AVIF?
Usually yes. AVIF compresses better than JPG, so a JPG of similar look takes more space.
Does the AVIF to JPG conversion remove metadata?
Yes. WipePic removes the hidden metadata, such as the GPS location, the camera model and the capture time, and then converts the picture. The new JPG file is cleaned once more, so it carries none of it.
